The BOX (상자; sangja), also known as The BOX TV is a South Korean television channel based by The UK's The Box TV Channel.
History[]
Unlike the American BOX and the British BOX, The BOX was launched in 1st November 1991. It mainly broadcasted popular Korean music until 1995, when The BOX changed its concept to every music genre. They launched in HD in 2000, as a early present for their 10th Aniversary. The BOX broadcasted in HD variant until 2013. For SD boxes, BOX operated a SD version which was in 4:3 until 2013.
Since 2004, it broadcasts 24 hours in a day.
Since 2019, it became more entertainment channel than in 2009, in 2009, they broadcasted music and entertainment programs. The BOX currently operates a channel which their music programming are moved is The BOX Music. It received a lot of criticism due of being an entertainment channel than a music channel, causing everyone to no longer watch The BOX, the audience share to be dropped indefinitely. The BOX also owns a channel that airs kids shows, named The BOX Kids, which also broadcasts music.

The BOX mainly broadcasts music, variety and more genre shows. The BOX used to broadcast only music, and even entertainment and variety shows until 2019. Since 2019, it broadcasts more entertainment and variety shows than the music programming.
