Summary[]
Plot[]
A cyan-furred thrips swift fox kit named Robin Hunter, who lives in the lush forest with his friends: Little Piper the rabbit and Mac the glacier bear along with his siblings and parents. While hanging out, Robin sees a paper that flies through the air until it lands onto the ground. He then picks it up and reads "If you wanted to visit Object Explosion, you would join us for fun!", he gives an idea to go exploring. Before going, the little fox grabs a lightbulb from his head as an idea, putting in his backpack along with the rest of the stuff that he had and went off for his journey. He finds an abandoned sharing system bicycle, rides it to Multiverse Underground station and takes the train to Objectroplis Airport in an attempt to hitch-hike his way to another country, doing so finally by stowing away inside a suitcase. An aerial shot reveals that his initial destination was Object Explosion when he was wandering around the city at one point, walking past through the bridge. Arriving at Volcano Alley, Robin Hunter has a crush on Yogurt and decides to impress her with a "real tree". Lava Lamp tells him the legend of the Tristan, who knows what happened to the trees. Leaving the city in search of the humans, Robin discovers that the outside world is a barren, contaminated wasteland. He finds Tristan and his pals: Elijah and Kasey and the objects Ground Beef, Disco Ball and Bubblegum, who agrees to tell him the story of the trees over multiple visits. The next time he leaves home, Robin Hunter encounters a sneaky packrat named Mistle O'Coy, whose company sells bottled oxygen to the polluted city. Explaining that trees and the oxygen they produce freely, pose a threat to his business as O'Coy pressures Robin to stay in town, but the little fox continues to visit the humans and the interns.
Meanwhile, Fox-ler recounts how, as a young inventor while arrived in a lush forest of animals and the wild trees. Cutting down a tree, he was confronted by Christopher the crow, the guardian of the forest who "speaks for the trees". After attempting to force the Fox-ler out, Christopher convinced him not to harm any more trees. Using the wild tree, the Fox-ler created the "Thneed", a piece of cloth with multiple uses, which became a major success. His unscrupulous relatives persuaded him to resume chopping down trees to mass-produce Thneeds was leading to enormous profits, but deforestation and pollution. After harvesting the last wild tree, the Fox-ler was ruined, abandoned by his family and became a recluse, he was left heartbroken and unbearably guilty for destroying the forest. With the region uninhabitable, Christopher sent the animals away to find a new place to live and vanished into the sky. The little crow left a single word on a small pile of rocks: "Unless". The humans and the Interns gives Robin the last wild tree seed in hopes he can regrow the forest and make others care about trees. The fox returns home to plant the seed, which is spotted by O'Coy's city-wide surveillance. Enlisting the help of Lava Lamp, Boomerang, Yogurt and and the other contestants, Robin is pursued by the packrat to the center of town. O'Coy rallies the citizens against the swift fox cub, telling them that trees are dangerous and filthy, but Robin uses an earthmover to knock down a section of the city wall, revealing the environmental destruction outside.
Inspired by Robin's conviction, the crowd turns on O'Coy, whose henchmen strap a jetpack-like helmet to him, causing him to fly away. The seed is finally planted and as time passes, the land begins to recover; new trees sprout, animals return and Tristan, Elijah and Kasey reunites with Christopher the crow, Ground Beef, Disco Ball and Bubblegum before the film abruptly ends to the credits.
